Micropigmentation (known more commonly as cosmetic tattooing) is a state-of-the-art method of creating realistic, natural, and permanent augmentation to eyebrows.
Why choose Micropigmentation?
If you pencil in your brows daily because of over-plucking or fair colouring or it you suffer from hair loss and feel uncomfortable with your appearance then cosmetic tattooing could be the solution you are looking for.
Eyebrow tattooing done by a professional means no more having to draw or fill in sparse hairs or worry about smudging your brows throughout the day. If you have no hair on your brows this is also a terrific solution to achieve a natural look that stays in place.
What's involved?
Pamela would first sketch the perfect shape, colour and dimensions to suit each client's personal preferences and features, the procedure would only begin once the client is happy with all of the above.
Hairstroke Technique
The hair stroke technique is when the pigment is applied in hair-like strokes giving the appearance of brow hair rather than a block of colour. Keep in mind that the hair strokes with time will fade, soften, look more powdered and top up procedures may be required more often and is only available for certain skin types.
Powder Technique
A shaded effect to give full colour to the brow area. Also referred to as 'Shaded Brow'. This gives a bolder, more striking look.
Ombre Technique
Like Powder, Ombre is also a shading technique, but a bit different as it creates a more subtle colour at the bulb of the brow and a bold defined tail.
Combination Techniques
Combination techniques are a combination of hair strokes and powder technique.
A brow treatment is a three–part process, broken down in to an initial consultation, first treatment and then a subsequent top-up.
The price you are quoted will be inclusive of all three stages.
Prior to any treatment, a consultation is required.
During your bespoke consultation we will discuss your reasons for seeking treatment and the look that you would like to achieve. Hand in hand, with your preferences and my expertise we will work together to find a shape and colour that will be individual to you.
* In addition a patch test MUST take place a minimum of 48 hours before treatment commences*
STAGE 2: Treament
Following on from your consultation, we will discuss again the look that you are aiming for to ensure you are happy with your choice.
Once your brow is numbed using numbing cream, your brow will be drawn using a makeup pencil. This allows the shape to be adjusted as many times as necessary so you are completely happy with the shape and look before any tattooing commences.
Then using a specialist facial tattooing, that uses very fine needles and a lower frequency than a standard tattoo machine, I get started creating the beautiful brows you have chosen.
STAGE 3: Top-up
Your Top-up appointment is booked for 4-8 weeks after your initial treatment. During the time between appointments your brow area will go through a process of healing and some areas may appear slightly patchy due pigmentation not ‘holding’ as well as others. Rest assured this is completely normal!
At your Top-up appointment further tattooing applies more pigment to the brow area. This essential step ensures you get the finished result you want.
I speak to lots of people who suffer silently with a lack of confidence as a result of their eyebrows, or lack of them! I know men and women alike who miss out on activities with family and friends, turn down all kinds of events and shy away from partaking in sports, in particular water activities. This may sound dramatic, but it’s true.
I receive consistent feedback from my clients stating that if they had known the difference semi permanent brows would have made to their life they would have got them done sooner.
With semi permanent cosmetics/eyebrow tattooing/micro-pigmentation there really is no reason to carry on missing out. Whatever your concern, having a brow treatment could make a dramatic change in your life, for the better.
What does it feel like, will it hurt?
The sensation varies from person to person. Some find it more comfortable than others. You will feel the vibrations but you should not feel too much discomfort. In addition to the numbing cream that was previously applied, a numbing gel will be used during the procedure to maximise comfort.
How long will the treatments take?
The tattooing process is approximately 2 hours. However this will vary, depending on your individual requirements. If you feel that you need a short break then I am always happy to accommodate this.
What will my brows look like after each treament?
Immediately after a brow treatment you should expect the area to look 40 to 50% darker than the colour you have chosen during your consultation. This starts to fade after approximately 3-4 days, resulting in your desired colour.
Does it prevent hair growth?
No! The procedure does not affect your current hair follicles. Your hair will grow as normal. This means that you should still follow your preferred maintenance regime e.g waxing, threading or tinting. This will keep the shape groomed and in line with your new look.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Deposits are essential to secure your place in the diary. The minimum deposit amount is £50.00. Payment can be made over the phone or you can drop it off at the clinic if you prefer. Only after you have paid your deposit will you receive an appointment, as our booking system doesn't allow us to book without one.
Is there a risk of infection?
Health and safety are of top priority. We adhere to strict sterilisation procedures at all times and follow current best practice. We always use a new needle with each client, these are sterile & disposable. In addition, the needle packaging will be opened in front of you to provide reassurance. Lastly, every piece of equipment is cleaned and sterilised between clients, including: the room, bed, lamp, trolley and anything else that we have touched by a gloved hand. We stay up to date with our training to ensure we meet all hygiene standards.
Will my eyebrows be too dark?
The colours are chosen to match and complement your natural skin and hair tone. We never use black pigment for your brows, no matter your complexion or how dark your skin is. This is because black pigment can reflect blue tones in your skin over time, or if it is exposed to the sun. However, we can achieve a darker eyebrow if desired by using alternative shades and tones.
Please note : All brows, will appear darker immediately following application. This will last approximately seven days. As they being to heal the colour will soften.
How long will my new eyebrows last?
Everyone’s skin is different and many factors must be taken into account. These factors include: your natural skin type, the skincare products you use and the colour of pigment chosen (as for example lighter colours like blondes will require more maintenance than darker shades). In addition, sun bed users and sun lovers brows will fade quicker due to UV light. Please also be aware that certain medical conditions and medications can contribute to fading over time. The normal expectation for fading is anywhere between 6 months and 5 years.
Does the initial cost include a top-up?
Yes! The price you are given includes your consultation, your first treatment and your top-up (which is carried out 4-8weeks after your initial treatment).
Can I go out immediately after a treatment?
Yes! The colour may appear darker than usual for the first few days. The crusting is only slightly visible, but usually never really noticeable. Make up can be used around the area but not directly over it.
How long will it take to heal?
On the surface healing takes around 7 to 10 days. However, it takes a minimum of 28 days to see the final result of your eyebrow tattooing. In addition, it can take up to 2 months for healing to occur, depending on age and condition of the skin. The older you are the longer the healing process between treatments.
What can I expect the healing process to be like?
Normally healing is minimal to moderate in discomfort and inconvenience. Every individual is different. It all depends on your skin type, eg if you have an oily skin type you will heal differently to someone with dry skin. You can expect slight flaky skin, itchiness, fading and patchiness, this is all normal! The pigment can fade then resurface again once it has settled in the skin (usually 4 weeks).
We will also give you an aftercare leaflet to guide you through the healing process.
How will I decide what colour is right for me?
We will begin by looking at a variety of basic pigment shades. All of the pigment colours can be mixed to complement your natural skin tones. I will work with you, discussing your preferences and making suggestions to help you get the perfect look. I will custom design your Semi Permanent Make up and combine colours to achieve a look that will be individual to you. The client does not choose the colour through a bottle, as l base our choice on a multitude of factors, including: skin tone, hair colour and eye colour.
